Call for Prayer

Dear Friends,

Here I am again asking for your continued prayers.

A few years ago a came across this bible verse from I Thessalonians 5:16-18.

Be joyous always, pray continuously, give thanks in all circumstances. For this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
I decided then that this would be by life verse and that I wanted to live by these words always. Luke has helped our family to do just that. This disease and treament will be a lifetime battle that will keep us in constant prayer. The doctor told us that there is the possibility that Luke's body will accept this treatment for a while (months, years) and then start to reject it. That's one way to have us pray continually. We are joyful for every day we have with him and all our children. And we are also very thankful for where this situation has brought us...to our knees. Things that were so important before seem so silly now.

We ask that you please help us by praying for the following:
  1. Luke's acceptence and positive response to this treatment. Clear out that glycogen!
  2. Advances in treatment. A CURE!
  3. Proper funding for those researching this disease and all neuromuscular diseases, and a moral compass for those in the pharm industry. :)
  4. That our other three children remain healthy and strong...they all have a 1 in 4 chance of having Pompe and will eventually need to be tested.
  5. Ultimatley, God's will in this situation. He knows what is best. I have realized that He doesn't always give us what we want but He ALWAYS gives us what we need.
It gives us great peace and strength to know we are covering Luke with prayer. There is nothing more any of us can do. Thank you also for all the notes and cards of encouragement. We read all of them on our trip to Cleveland. Many kleenexes were needed.

With love and hope,

Carrie Barriger
